“They call me Doctor Love…”
Released in 1977, “Doctor Love” is pure disco dynamite from First Choice, one of the most underrated female vocal groups of the era. With tight harmonies, soulful lead vocals from Rochelle Fleming, and a thumping groove laced with strings and funk, the track became a dance floor essential in the golden age of disco.
The song was produced by Norman Harris, a key figure in the Philadelphia soul scene, and released on Gold Mind Records, a short-lived but influential label founded by Harris himself. Distributed by Salsoul Records, Gold Mind was home to some of the most forward-thinking disco cuts of the late ’70s.
The 12-inch pressing of “Doctor Love” gave DJs an extended prescription for party energy. The vintage Gold Mind label — featuring its gold lettering and sharp logo — is reproduced on this tee to reflect the era’s elegance and edge.
Whether you need a cure or just the vibe, “Doctor Love” has the remedy. Wear the beat, feel the healing.
