Sojourner Truth

Sojourner Truth was born into slavery in New York and later walked to freedom with nothing but conviction and faith. She became one of the most powerful abolitionist and women’s rights speakers of the 19th century, using her lived experience as undeniable evidence of injustice.

Her speeches cut through hypocrisy, especially at a time when women and Black people were excluded from political discourse. She demanded recognition of both racial and gender equality, refusing to separate the two.

Truth’s legacy is rooted in moral authority. She spoke not from theory, but from truth lived and survived.
