Every floor you reach is because someone made it possible.
In 1887, Alexander Miles patented a revolutionary mechanism that allowed elevator doors to open and close automatically — a feature still used in elevators today. Before his invention, elevator shafts often remained dangerously open, putting lives at risk.
Miles’ design made modern vertical transportation safer and more efficient, yet like many Black inventors, his contribution is rarely mentioned in history books.
This tee gives credit where it’s long overdue. Because when Black brilliance moves, the whole world rises.
He helped the world move up. Now you can lift his name. Wear the legacy of Alexander Miles.
