“Shame” on anyone who doesn’t know this classic.
Released in 1977, “Shame” was the song that put Evelyn “Champagne” King on the map. At just 17 years old, her rich, mature voice brought heat to this track — blending gritty funk with gliding disco, and proving she had the chops to go the distance. The song reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to become one of the defining hits of the disco era.
Produced by T. Life and issued through RCA Records, the original 12-inch pressing gave DJs more room to stretch its groove, and it quickly became a staple at block parties and in underground clubs alike.
The vintage RCA label from that original pressing — bold and vibrant — is featured on this shirt in full detail, just like you’d find flipping through a real crate of wax.
Disco, funk, and fearless vocals. Wear “Shame” and rep the moment Evelyn King took center stage.
