This isn’t just a song — it’s a spiritual experience.
Released in 1973 by MFSB (Mother Father Sister Brother), “Love Is The Message” was more than just a Philly soul instrumental — it became a timeless anthem. Known for its sweeping strings, lush horns, and hypnotic rhythm, the track was the heartbeat of New York’s underground — especially in the hands of legendary DJ Larry Levan, who turned it into a staple at Paradise Garage.
Though the original was a B-side to “TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia),” the extended version on 12-inch vinyl became the real gem. It gave rise to what’s now considered the early roots of house music, garage, and even hip hop break culture — played for hours in clubs, with dancers letting loose to its emotional build.
Released on the iconic Philadelphia International Records, founded by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, this label helped shape the sound of Black music in the 1970s. The original pressing of this record carried all the elegance and purpose of that era — and now, so does this tee.
If you know, you really know. Wear “Love Is The Message” and represent the message, the movement, and the music that moves generations.
