Living smart isn’t new — it’s been in her blood.
In 1885, Sarah E. Goode became one of the first Black women to receive a U.S. patent — for a folding cabinet-bed that helped maximize small living spaces. Her invention combined a desk and bed in one, designed for compact city homes and flexible living.
At a time when patents by Black women were nearly unheard of, Goode made her mark — addressing real needs with creativity and practicality. Her innovation spoke to urban resilience and a woman’s drive to solve problems.
This tee pays tribute to the ingenuity of a woman born into the challenges of Chicago’s tight living quarters, who rose to reimagine space and possibility — for herself and for communities that still benefit from her idea today.
Space. Style. Smarts. All inspired by Sarah Goode. Honor her trailblazing design — wear her legacy with pride.
